About Us

SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY

Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) was established in 1954 in Tirupati to cater to the educational needs and aspirations of the Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh. With 70 years of excellence in teaching, research, extension, and outreach activities, the University offers a comprehensive range of postgraduate programs across diverse disciplines, including Arts, Sciences, Law, Management, Education, Physical Education, Engineering, and Pharmacy.

From a humble beginning with one college and six departments, SVU has grown into the second-largest university in Andhra Pradesh, comprising five constituent colleges:

  2. SVU College of Sciences
  3. SVU College of Commerce, Management & Computer Science
  4. SVU College of Pharmacy
  5. SVU College of Engineering

The University currently accommodates 52 departments offering 88 academic programs.

The alumni of the University include noted persons like Former Vice President Sri. M. Venkaiah Naidu garu, and Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu garu. Also the alumni of the University occupied important positions at national and international organisations along with state and Central Governments of India.

Prestigious Rankings and Accreditations

Sri Venkateswara University has been adjudged one of the best universities in the country. It has been accredited with an 'A+' grade by NAAC in 2023 and has consistently performed well in national and international rankings:

The University has been selected under RUSA Component 4 with funding of ₹100 Crores to establish Centres of Excellence in cutting-edge fields:

SVU also houses the UGC-SVU Centre for MST Radar Applications under the CPEPA program and the DST-PURSE program for its outstanding research output. Multiple departments receive funding under SAP (UGC) and FIST (DST), facilitating infrastructure development.

In line with its commitment to fostering global competitiveness, SVU embraces the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The university has established an NEP Cell to integrate 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problemsolving, creativity, and digital literacy into its curriculum. This ensures that students are not only academically proficient but also well-prepared to excel in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

SVU has forged numerous partnerships to drive research, innovation, and skill development:

  1. National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT):
    Approved by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the NIELIT Centre at SVU promotes advanced digital technology education and research.
  2. Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technology Companies Association of Andhra Pradesh (TCOAP), a non-commercial and non-profit organization. TCOAP is committed to advancing the technology sector in Andhra Pradesh by leveraging the state’s IT, ITEC, and electronics industry capabilities to boost both regional and global competitiveness.

    This collaboration aligns with SVU's strategy to bridge academia and industry, fostering innovation, skill development, and research excellence. The partnership will focus on driving growth in the technology sector, generating employment, and enhancing infrastructure, exports, and private sector investments. With the strong potential of IT/ITES skills and robust state policies, this MoU will enable SVU and TCOAP to make significant contributions to the technological and economic development of Andhra Pradesh.

  3. MoU with Exafluence, USA:

    In response to the growing demand for specialized skills in emerging fields, SVU has launched industry-integrated programs such as the MS in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with Exafluence, USA. These programs equip students with expertise in high-demand areas, bridging the gap between academia and the evolving job market.MoU with SV Medical College, Tirupati:
    Collaboration focuses on interdisciplinary research, resource sharing, and addressing critical challenges in healthcare and science.

  4. MoU with Amararaja Industries:
    SVU has partnered with Amararaja Industries for internships and academic collaboration, providing students with valuable industry exposure.

  5. Drones and Space Technologies Consortium:

    An MoU has been signed with leading industry players, including:

    • RFLY Innovations Pvt Ltd
    • EarthNow Pvt Ltd
    • PBC’s Aero Hub Pvt Ltd
    • AURANTIUS Tech Services Pvt Ltd

This partnership aims to pioneer advancements in drone and space technologies.

SVU fosters an entrepreneurial ecosystem through its SVU-RUSA E-Cell, which organizes skill development programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance employability. The university has incubated several successful startups, including:
